my little rag doll

i wanted to share with you a special little creation
that has grown on me..meet lil' lady emma
she was created as a birthday present, as i remember
correctly rather last minute 3-4 am, the night before
and i distinctly recall feeling wonderfully satisfied
as many artists, musicians, cooks etc. can attest to
after your creation sits finished and full of every last
ounce of your passion, love and ability
a struggle to form and fashion your vision into
a reality actually forms new connections in your brain
and part of the post creative rush is a mellow
hum of completion and one of a small victory
that's not to say that there are no faults or imperfections
in it, but as i age i tend to view the very
variances as the true beauty of the piece.

Little Emma has a muslin body, lovingly held and furried felt hair
hand painted face, an eyelet under-dress, which you can see
peeking from the top & bottom of her outfit, a long calico tank
and my very favorite, a comfy thin corduroy skirt, of
which i made one for myself but in a more librarian length
of which i wear far too often, a version of it will be included
in the next shop update on friday dec. 18th, (along with
some very new & exciting couture pieces i've been
laboring on), the ragged teal silk ribbon was from a
very feminine lady friend.
This little doll, even though was intended as a gift
for my favorite girl ever, ended up living with me
she sleeps with me and sits on my neatly made bed
amongst my hand embroidered pillowcases
and purple velvet bedding.
i've been desperately debating whether or not
to offer these sweet little dolls for acquisition in
the shop...? what do you think?

well i'm off to finish off this snack of fresh raspberries
string cheese, frozen cranberries and a very big
almond bear claw danish~
happy winter weekend all you sweet things
xoxo
